The following vacancies have arisen at GALZ. GALZ is a human rights-based organisation, with membership on a voluntary basis. 1) Counsellor – Fixed Term (2 Years)

 

GALZ invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Counsellor within the organization, based in Masvingo

 Reports to: Programs Manager

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identification and assessment of clients needing psychosocial support,
  • Providing appropriate supportive counselling, referrals and follow up;
  • Provide individual or couples, group and family counselling services to clients as necessary;
  • Refer and ensure access by clients to Rapid HIV testing and providing pre and post-test counselling;
  • Offering SRHR and counselling services;
  • Facilitate community mobilization meetings held at the drop in centre;
  • Ensure the timely and thorough documentation of cases;
  • Provide in-home counselling sessions as necessary;
  • Provide crisis intervention and follow up support as necessary;
  • Develop creative interventions based on needs presented by clients or community;
  • Maintain updated database of DIC visitors and case files for all clients on GALZ database systems;
  • Facilitate support group meetings
  • Refer participants to other resource centres when necessary
  • Any other related duties as assigned from time to time.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Counselling, Social Science or Social Work or any related field
  • Experience in HIV/AIDS Counselling; Diploma in Systemic Counselling;
  • Experience of managing confidential patient records;
  • Experience in discussing clinical and sometimes sensitive subjects with potential and actual participants, including HIV/STI, transmission, sexual practices, and health history, is required

 

2)  3 x Peer Coordinators – Fixed Term

 

GALZ invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Peer Coordinator within the organization, based in Harare (x1), Masvingo (x1), Mutare (x1)

Reports to: Programs Manager

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Project implementation, and coordination;
  • Ensure the effective implementation of project activities; Develop annual, quarterly and monthly work plans related to project;
  • Conducting and coordinating capacity building, including assisting Ordaa Advocates and Educators to identify needs, ensuring community mobilization and other project deliverables;
  • Convene and coordinate project events and /meetings with Ordaa Advocates and Educators;
  • Create and Provide referrals to other service providers.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational mission, vision and goals;
  • Support the preparation of regular narrative reports as per contractual agreement.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences or Social Work
  • At least 2 years’ experience in similar position will be an added advantage
  • Experience in working with marginalised and vulnerable groups and communities
  • LGBTI people are encouraged to apply
